This is a great opportunity to come and meet some of our wonderful parent community, and for your little one to meet new friends and prepare for Kindergarten. These sessions are open to all families in the community, not just those enrolling for Kindergarten at SJF.

Little Fisher’s Playgroup is held once a term (on alternating days) in the school hall from 9.15-10.15am.

Children’s Liturgy is held every Sunday in the SJF Mass Centre at 5pm.

Register your interest for upcoming playgroup and children’s liturgy sessions here.

How I learn Milestones

“Starting school involves a big change for your child and family. It can be a time of great excitement, but also a time of potential challenge and stress.

Families play an important role in supporting children to manage the transition to primary school. These resources will give you practical ideas and strategies to help your child make a successful start to school.

Thinking about transition to school is the first step to managing this transition smoothly. There are lots of simple things you can do to get your child ready for school. These include understanding their behaviour, as well as helping them develop the coping skills needed to best manage the change that comes with starting school. This can also be a great time to build your child’s problem solving abilities.

Don’t forget that having your child start school is a change for the whole family. As such, and it can often be a good idea to notice your own reaction and needs at this time. It is also important to not hesitate to get help when starting school when needed.”

Helping Kids Transition to School with NEW Resources

As children around NSW begin preparing for their transition to school, the NSW Government has developed new resources to support early childhood educators as they guide children in care services through this critical phase of their learning.

Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning Sarah Mitchell said the Government is committed to ensuring that all children across the state get the best start they can.

A storybook featuring native Australian animal characters, ‘Daisy’s First Day,’ has been developed to help children learn about what they might experience in a typical school day.
